bar graphic RESEARCH LAB

In the lab, undergraduate and graduate research assistants work with me to implement studies investigating prejudice, privilege awareness, and ally behavior. We recently completed a series of studies examining diversity course effectiveness in raising awareness of dominant group privilege and reducing prejudice against women, people of color, lesbians, and gay men. Students working in the lab gain experience with study design, IRB approval, survey and experimental data collection, data entry and management, statistical analyses, presenting at conferences, and preparing manuscripts for publication.

Lab Supervisor-  Briana Stewart

Briana Stewart joined the lab as an undergraduate and quickly became lab supervisor. Her research focuses on transgender studies. She is currently a Master's student in Psychology and Women's Studies and plans to pursue her doctorate in Women's Studies.

Research Assistants- Undergraduate psychology and women's studies majors, as well as Master's students in sociology, psychology, family therapy, and I/O psychology conduct experimental, survey, and qualitative research in the lab. Due to their dedication and long hours of hard work, six students from the lab presented research at the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues Convention in Chicago, June 2008. Our next conference will be the Southwest Psychological Association meeting in San Antonio, April 2009.
