That creek was called so long
before I saw and called it home.
Now there's a house where once upon
a blood-colored stone half-circle
I might sit, but banished now by time—
Water flows —My heart
—My heart gives way—
to fear I'm falling backwards, turn to catch
my cold feet walk away.
